If so, on what scale do they reside and where would you place current political movements on that scale?
If not, what do you consider the opposite of Liberty and of Tyranny?
To avoid confusion allow me to define terms by pasting the definitions of active forms of my terms:
Tyrannize
oppress, bully, dictate to, intimidate, coerce, enslave, terrorize, subjugate, browbeat, ride roughshod over, rule with an iron hand, domineer over, have someone under your thumb

Liberate
free, release, rescue, save, deliver, discharge, redeem, let out, set free, let loose, untie, emancipate, unchain, unbind

@Read my Lips Thanks for sparing us any further details of your relationship with Liberty.
@Curtis 1911 re "Both liberty and tyranny or relative to a political belief."
So you think the freedom to be a slave is Liberty? Or do you simply believe that by redefining words you can change reality. You truly are a relativist if you believe perception alters reality.
@Liv So you would use the scale of personal freedom vs total government control with Communism on the far left and Anarchy on the far right and our Constitution falling somewhere to the right of the middle?
@Liv I take your point about "though I don’t agree with using lists of close-synonyms as definitions" and almost used the regular definitions but as dictionaries agree on synonyms but vary on definitions I felt it was a more objective way to define terms for this forum where a normal discussion of terms is impractical.
I consider any ideology that seeks to control others and restrict freedom as tyranny and tyranny as left wing, That is everything from socialism and fascism to many religions whether they are Judeo/Christian, Muslim, Hindu or Shinto. When the threat of retribution of master whether it is the local priest, the local ward healer, or the local Union enforcer. They are all left wing. Many people who call themselves conservatives are in fact left wing tyrants who seek to coerce others.
